This place does not exist. It used to be a small Italian borgo above the Liguria sea. Then, in 1887, it was hit by an earthquake… After the disaster, its inhabitants happily decided to move for living elsewhere forgetting the place. Absconding from fresh rubbles they left their old homes. Since then the town is left abandoned, and its buildings still stay half-destroyed. ENG
On a green and steep hill of the Liguria cost an old and lonely Italian lady leads her quiet life. Built of stone centuries ago, signora Pigna stays there with no change. Stiff but abounded, dreamy and mysterious her narrow streets whisper stories from the past. Windows are shut. Piazzas are empty. There are no people. Only random guests discover her beauty, walk through her paths reviving her youth. By Maria Novozhilova RUS

Amazing colors, incredible patterns and unbelievable dimensions of seafood goods coming from the fathomless pacific ocean are hidden in the heart of Tokyo. No doubt Tsukiji, the biggest wholesale fish market in the whole world, can surprise with its countless wonders. Until recent times the entrance was open for anybody. Nowadays more and more restrictions are applied and an unauthorized access is often prohibited. The gossips murmur that soon it will be moved outside of the city.

The cherry blossom is over and spring is coming to its end. Yet, the next season is about to start. Summer is at the door, and the nature is changing its tender pinkish cherry tint into brilliant colors of green.

Details are probably the main aspect of Japanese culture that an European traveler might appreciate. A great attention to the smallest things makes Japan special. Chosenji is one of those spots of Tokyo where one might encounter incredible details and peculiar traditional elements of Japanese landscape: incuse metal roof decorations, natural-looking stone lanterns, last cherry petals carefully preserved all over the garden. Tokyo (the biggest metropolitan area of the world where around 33 millions people live) surprises with its silent and peaceful corners. Just behind the Nezu Shrine fences (first established in Sendagi around 1,900 years ago and transferred to Nezu in 1706), a visitor dives into a past epoch atmosphere. The sequence of red traditional Japanese gates torii draw a narrow human-scale pathway: a route of purification. The basic symbolic element repeated an infinite number of times offers an architectural experience mixing time and space into one single entity. By @NovozhilovaM

The sculpted roof glows with yellow color. Its curved shapes evoke familiar Ferrari silhouette. Graceful in its forms, the museum reflects the charming elegance of the unbeaten car. Once we are inside, a spacious panorama opens up narrating glory of the past. The milky walls spill over the undulate floor. Somewhere in the middle of endless whiteness, red four-wheels masterpieces are fired up on their floating pedestals. A touch of sunny color that blesses prancing horse is suspended in the air. Modena (Italy) is a town of porches and colors. The ground floor of its historical center is thinly chopped to offer porous public space of infinite covered galleries percolated through the whole ghost city. Yet nobody knows in fact for whom its happy colors serve today: the glory has passed and the place seems empty. By @NovozhilovaM ENG
Appeared from nothing less than 20 years ago, skyscraper horizon of Shanghai seems to be fake. Symbolic and monumental, yet quite impersonal shapes of its towers undeniably represent the face of the city. Yet, this face is hidden behind a misty wall constantly suspended in the air of white collateral effects of fast growing metropolis. Real colors fade away, forms melt in this mist, horizon disappear in the haze, and the city emerge as an immaterial matter. By @NovozhilovaM |
