Time to work by Nacho Carbonell: a long hood able to contain tools, ideas and x-mas gifts; making funky objects is an unpredictable job and one should be ready for anything / "Время работать" Начо Карбонель: длинный капюшон для инструментов, идей и рождественских подарков; создавать необычные предметы - не непредсказуемая работа: здесь нужно быть готовым ко всему. ENG No doubt, every job is important and necessary, but some jobs are more jobs than others! So weird that you could not even imagine. |
Giants of the fashion world such as Antonio Marras, Angela Missoni, Issey Miyake, Frédérique Morrel, Vivienne Westwood and many others did not just come up with the most incredible work-wear designs, but they, above all, invented new professions in order to design uniform cloths for them. Isn’t it a great idea to invent or, better say, “legitimize” jobs that are out there but that nobody takes them seriously? Who would argue that in this world there are no “dream painters”, “researchers of divine”, or “cloud hunters”? And, after all, they all need to wear something to perform their duties! |
This is just the evolution of the idea of what a work-cloth represents. Once it was the image that the world gave us. Now it is the image of what we want to be in the world. |
Clothes for the researcher of the Divine by Tarshito: small bells ring while one is walking; don't they warn the Divine allowing it to retreat? This is what can be learnt in Triennale di Milano, the Milan museum of design and modern arts, while wandering through a playful collection of extremely serious work clothes titled «Abiti da Lavoro» («Workwear»). The exhibition tried to give an interpretation on the theme of individualism and expression of our own self, and to answer questions such as who do we want to be? who do we feel we are? and what is missing today for the professional (and not only…) self-realization? In an ironic way some works underlined possible contradictions and mistakes that unconsciously one could commit trying to realize his or her own ideas and good intentions. The exhibition was open for more than two months. Yesterday it was officially closed, but we have captured its most striking and suggestive items.
Clothes for a chaste pornographer by Gentucca Bini: the model's breast, buttocks and pubis are never expression of nude, because her body is completely semiotic. The models are women trapped in a sort of alien beauty; they are integral signs that gave up the possibility of being undressed. Their body substance appears to be denied and anorexic. Their body, then, is naked again only when it is hidden. We are all naked under our clothes / "Костюм целомудренных порнографов" Джентука Бини: современный эталон женской красоты - исхудавшая модель; красота её обнажённого тела - раздетый манекен. Adam and Eve are going shopping in costume by Frédérique Morrel: these clothes are made of pictures and are so tight to squeeze the body and shape it into something else. They are clothes with the prints of fragments of art history lie. They dress bodies that have already eaten the apple and cover their nudity with a further nudity, the one of history of people living in the world outside Eden / "Адам и Ева на шоппинге" Фредерик Моррель: два тела стиснутые узкими одеждами слились в одно.
