Approaching to Sou Fujimoto’s Tokyo Apartment one does not notice the building. The front of the street is extremely heterogeneous in terms of both forms and colors, so that the view of the nascent piled white pitched volumes does jump to the eye. Perfectly in line with the context, the Tokyo Apartments slowly emerges.

Once close, the whole building appears as a heap of randomly placed volumes. White cubic shapes seem rather a temporary installation.
The house faces a small park full of cherry trees. Therefore, the lucky residents can enjoy spring o-hanami directly from the windows: there is no need to put shoes on and climb down a steep stair.
Tokyo Apartment was realized in 2010 by a Japanese Tokyo based architect Sou Fujimoto. The structure is in wood, and the façade is a merely painted corrugated sheet. Simple yet smart and refined, the house has already earned the fame of a must-know example of Japanese contemporary architecture.
From the functional point of view, the project is a composition of four apartment-units. These days one flat is free for rent. The 56 sq. m. dwelling costs monthly around 140 000 yen (about 1000 euro). Honestly, would you like to move in? By @NovozhilovaM
